The Old Thorsby Elementary School Renovation Project

This 10,000 sq. ft brick building was erected in 1925.  Students attended elementary & junior high grades in this school until the late 1970's.  Other uses since then include a Senior Citizens Program, youth groups, Girl Scout meetings, Civic Chorale pratices and the local AA.

Plans are to use this building as a Community Center, which will house a library and museum.  Meeting rooms and banquet facilities will also be possible.

This property is valuable to the people of Thorsby and the surrounding area, as a historical landmark and as a community enhancement facility.

Work days have cleaned up the building site, inside & out.

Volunteers worked together with town employees.
PROJECT GOAL:    Renovate the building for use as a Community Center.
PROJECT STATUS:   Site has been cleaned up & Architectural Plans have been drawn up with the help of a grant from CAWACO.
PROJECT NEEDS:   Funding, funding, funding!  Plans are being made for fundraising events & grant pursuits.
