About Us

The Thorsby Historical Preservation Committee is dedicated to serving our community, working together to preserve the history of our town.  Whether it's a historical structure, memoribilia or documents such as photographs or letters, we believe they hold important value for our future.  Maybe you would like to join in these efforts to save and preserve Thorsby, Alabama's rich heritage.  We welcome anyone who desires to participate.  There is always room for more!  For information, call (205) 217-0978 or email traciadbussey@gmail.com

1) Renovation of the old Thorsby Elementary School Building for use as a Community Center.
2) Renovation of the old Thorsby Elementary School Lunchroom building for public use.
3) Placing a Historical Marker at the Scandinavian Cemetery
4) Writing & publishing a book about Thorsby, Alabama
5) Maintaining and repairing the Scandinavian Cemetery
6) Creating a Scandinavian Flag Court to host a Historical Marker commemorating the town's founders
